About LAWRRAG

The Leeds and Wakefield Road Residents Action Group (LAWRRAG) was established in 2004 following complaints by many residents to local councillors and the MP, Colin Challen,  about the increasing traffic speeds, and the noise and disturbance created by 24/7 heavy goods vehicle traffic on Leeds/Wakefield Road (the A639 and A642). It was Colin Challen's suggestion that the group should have the name LAWRRAG. During his time as local MP Colin Challen fully supported the group and chaired many meetings with supporters and with senior Leeds City Council officers to try and get Leeds City Council to address the concerns of local residents living alongside or close by the route of Leeds/Wakefield Road between the M1 and M62.
